AMCO were pleased to attend the recent annual ICE QUEST event at the headquarters of the Institution of Civil Engineering (ICE) where around 100 young people gathered with the hope that they would gain sponsorship from both the ICE and a relevant Civil Engineering Company.

This is the second year that AMCO has attended the event and follows on from the success of last year when Ben Cooke was selected for sponsorship by AMCO. Ben attended this year's event and was able to tell those visiting the AMCO stand of the very valuable experience he has gained at AMCO, including working on a major bridge reconstruction at River Witham, Lincolnshire, for Network Rail before he returns to university to complete his second year.

On his time with AMCO Ben commented “It surprised me how quickly I became part of the team and the amount of responsibility I was given in a short period of time, this has really affirmed that I wish to pursue civil engineering and has put me in great standing for my 2nd year studies”.

The young people attending the event had all successfully made it through a tough initial selection process, which this year saw over 400 applicants. The second phase of the selection process involves two separate interviews undertaken by both the ICE and the companies that select them for an interview. This year, like last, provided a high standard of individuals eager to fulfil a career in civil engineering and AMCO looks forward to welcoming this year's successful candidate in due course.
