AMCO has recently completed the fabrication and installation of underslung access walkways within the M8 White Cart Viaduct for our repeat client, Scotland TranServ, as part of their 4G Term Contract with Transport Scotland.

Two 60m long suspended walkways have been installed from the east and west viaduct abutments. The completion of this phase of the works compliments our earlier scheme to install a 76m long suspended walkway with spiral access stairs over the White Cart Water itself which was completed in December 2016.

Transport Scotland has commissioned this project to provide improved access to the viaduct box girders as an aid to their inspection and maintenance activity.

The walkways were fabricated from Fibreglass Reinforced Polymer – reducing the weight of the suspended structures and providing increased durability over a steelwork solution.

Utilising our directly employed expertise with structural refurbishment, a variety of bespoke Working at Height techniques were employed to undertake the installations as an alternative to traditional scaffolding and cranes.
