Following an emergency line closure due to underlying mine workings at Edinburgh's Fort Kinnaird, we are delighted to announce the successful reopening of the Suburban Branch line, between Niddrie West Junction and Niddrie South Junction!

With a legacy of local coal mining activity creating a localised subsidence issue on the line, AmcoGiffen’s Civils Asset Management Framework team in Scotland displayed their usual agility and flexibility, working reactively in a live rail environment to deliver this grouting led, shaft remediation project.

Collaborating effectively with Network Rail, the Coal Authority, and our supply chain, we called on our unique national mining expertise and our ability to adapt to changing circumstances to complete the project efficiently and without incident.

Ensuring heightened resilience of the railway, along with increased public safety and line security, we’re proud to continue strengthening, safeguarding and enhancing Scotland’s passenger experience.
